Apple Pectin Powder is a powdery sweet substance derived from the fleshy part of apples. This particular product comes from the apples of domesticated trees in the USA. Our farmers do not spray harmful chemicals on their apples. It is extracted through an extensive process involving a water purification procedure over a period of several hours. Pectin can be found in many fruits and vegetables; apples, have been recognized as the highest quality source of pectin. Apples produce more pectin than any other pectin-producing fruit or vegetable and have been found to produce pectin higher in fiber. This is an important distinction because fiber is what gives pectin the binding qualities that make it so useful. When heated, it binds to the fruits and their juices and helps to thicken them rather than cooking the fruits down which would cause them to lose their flavor. Pectin has also been used as a stabilizer and thickening agent.
