The Bite-Lite H-Trap Professional Horse Fly Control System is the most effective horse fly trap on the market today. This unique one-legged horse fly trap is easy to set up and maintain for outdoor areas where female horse flies from the tabanid family are a biting nuisance. Each trap covers about 2.5 acres or 5 horses, and is intended to catch horse flies, also known as greenheads, deer flies, yellow flies, and B-52 black bombers. Without the use of chemicals or electricity, the Bite-Lite horse fly trap uses nature to trick the female horse fly into getting trapped. By placing our horse fly trap in a sunny location near your horse paddock, swimming pool, pond, garden, water park, business park, vacation rental, campground, etc., you will find the female attracted to the inflated black ball. Once positioned on the black ball, the horse flies will try to bite, and after failing they will fly vertically up into the hood and get caught in the plastic collection bin. Weather resistant design, with corrosion proof steel frame and UV proof plastic parts, comes with a 2-year warranty on mechanical defects. Before assembling, please note that not all flies that bother and bite your horses and family members are horse flies. The H-Trap will not catch stable flies or horn flies (from the Muscidae family) that also help carry disease. At a glance, horse fly eggs and larvae are found in wet, swampy areas. Stable and horn fly eggs and larvae are found in fecal matter, urine soaked bedding, or in the wet, decomposing straw found around round hay bales. Horse flies leave trails of blood from the wound area after cutting the skin and pumping in a substance that allows the blood to flow. Stable and horn fly bites tend to be less bloody, with much smaller 'dots' of blood left after feeding. Also consider that dark colored horses on the property may be more attractive to horse flies than lighter colored horses, and you may need to use a white fly sheet in addition to the trap.
