The Thin Red Line is a symbol used by firefighter and paramedics in the United States and Canada to commemorate fallen officers and to symbolize the relationship of the Fire Department in the community as the guardians of the citizenry from fire and misadventure.

Each stripe on the emblem represents certain respective figures: the red center line represents fire department personnel, the top black stripe represents the public and the bottom black stripe represents the chaos of disaster.

The Thin Red Line Flag has become popular among fire department personnel, their families and supporters.
