American singer Patti Page, often referred to as 'the Singin' Rage' could justifiably be considered the first country-pop crossover artist, years before the term was coined in the 1970s. One of the best-known female artists in traditional pop music, Patti was the top-charting female vocalist, as well as the best-selling female artist of the 1950s, and sold over 100 million records.
