John Taylor and Phil Short entered the Haynes of Maidstone Ford Escort RS1800 in the Lombard RAC Rally 1979. The November rally, based at Chester, saw 217 competitors start with just 74 finishing the rally. Taylor brought the No.18 Ford home to a well deserved 6th place.
