Z-Wave is an interoperable, two-way RF mesh networking technology used for home automation and security. Battery-powered Z-Wave devices, such as this sensor, "wake up" when triggered and broadcast a Z-Wave alarm signal, which can in turn be used to activate other devices or perform preprogrammed tasks. Any Z-Wave enabled device displaying the Z-Wave logo can be used with Z-Wave devices from other manufacturers.

This sensor is designed to detect angular changes, such as would occur when a garage door is opened. When triggered, the sensor sends a wireless Z-Wave alarm signal, which can be used as a simple alarm or as a trigger to activate or perform other functions, such as turning on a light. It also has a tamperproof switch, which causes a different alarm signal to be sent when triggered.
