Filmed throughout Spain and Argentina, When The Fire Burns captures the rich sensuality of Manuel de Fallas music, in counterpoint to the near monastic austerity of his life. The documentary includes excerpts from performances by Charles Dutoit and the Montréal Symphony, Teresa Berganza, Alicia de Larrocha, Narciso Yepes, Nicanor Zabaleta and gypsy flamenco singers and dancers. Nights in the Garden of Spain combines nighttime footage of the Alhambra, the Moorish palace and gardens atop the hills of Granada, with pianist Alicia de Larrochas performance of de Fallas masterpiece.
