The Essentials for Ultrasound Inspection/ A Standard Manual
A remarkable advancement has been made in recent years in the ultrasound inspection systems. Among them, the improvement of resolution is worthy of special mention as it has enabled us fully understand the characteristics of organs such as “bones,†“tendons,†“ligament,†“blood vessels (using Doppler).†The advancement has also made possible “immediate on-the-spot diagnosis†and “use of light handy-type apparatus out in the sport field†on top of the primarily recognized advantage of “zero radiation exposure.†Thus, the ultrasound inspection has been attracting increasing attention and its use has been spreading wide.
The book is organized to serve as a manual for ultrasound inspection with 7 chapters explaining: [the upper limbs] “Finger (Hand),†“Wrist,†“Elbow,†“Shoulder,†[the lower limbs] “Lower Leg and Ankle,†“Knee,†“Hip Joint and Thigh.†The explanation given in each chapter is divided into two approaches of “Positioning†and “Procedure†and, in “Procedure,†“How to visualize which part†is explained in the order of Steps 1, 2 and so on. As the use of probes is essential for capturing the accurate image of the part required, “Probe Use†is always specified in the ultrasound images. The book also gives “Q and A†on diagnosing orthopaedic disorders as well as an additional information on “Echo anatomy (actual anatomical pictures useful for ultrasound inspections).
