During the summer of 2013, I spent two months riding my bicycle across the United States from Yorktown, Virginia to Florence, Oregon. I followed the roads of the TransAmerica bike route and experienced extremes of weather and scenery, both good and bad and had random encounters along the way that were sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but always interesting. This trip allowed me to see this country with new eyes and gave me a new appreciation for the diversity of geography, climate, and culture. It was also an adventure that tested me to my limits, both physically and mentally, and taught me a great deal about myself and my strengths and limitations.
