This is a beautiful pair of handle making scales for making a knife.

This is a set of naturally occurring buffalo horn. They will often have natural orange/gold streaks going throughout them which gives an exceptionally handsome look. They look very impressive and will make a gorgeous handle for your knife. We have these custom made for our store and you wont find these anywhere else.

You get 2 scales with each set.

Tips for working with this buffalo horn:

• Use regular woodworking tools to cut and shape this material.
• When shaping your handle, try to leave as much of the surface area untouched as possible to retain as much of the colored areas as possible. Due to the density of buffalo horn, the dye is only able to penetrate about 1mm deep into the material.
• Please note that any cut or sanded portions will turn a dull gray color. Just polish and buff these areas to return them to a beautiful, deep, glossy sheen.
• If thinning the scales is required, it is recommended that you sand the back-side of the scales (facing your blade's handle), to leave as much of the outside of the buffalo horn as untouched as possible.
• Sometimes the pieces may require sanding to become perfectly flat. A standard belt sander works well for this job.
• The final step of buffing and polishing buffalo horn is a must, as it will darken and become glossy with a brilliant sheen.
