The natural carapace armor of the Xenomorph species classified as Zerg has shown impressive resistance to most types of weaponry we have brought to bear against it. Both in monitored field tests, as well as post-combat debriefing of marines we have gathered that the creatures may possess various levels of protection through a process we can only assume is akin to the other evolutionary characteristics the species may exhibit.
