A mild-mannered Englishman leading a bus tour across Italy, Stanley Thrumm (David McCallum), wins a fortune at a Riviera casino, making him a target for Carla Moretti (Sylva Koscina), a beautiful adventuress. Convincing he love-struck Stanley to invest his winnings in Switzerland to avoid paying British taxes, Carla persuades him to hand over the cash to her partner in crime (Domenico Modugno), who promptly absconds with the loot. Realizing he's been swindled, Stanley embarks on a madcap chase to catch the sexy temptress who stole his money along with his heart. Also starring Tammy Grimes and Harvey Korman, Three Bites of the Apple was David McCallum's first leading role and features the catchy theme song "In the Garden - Under the Tree," cowritten and performed by the actor himself.
