Canon's EF 100mm f / 2.8L Macro IS USM lens is Canon's L-series version of the popular 100mm macro lens.
As an L-series lens it offers the ultimate in optical construction, including ultra-low dispersion lens elements and moisture and dust and sealing structure in the barrel. Its 100mm focal length is effective for portraits and other telephoto applications and as a macro lens with a 1: 1 magnification and a 30.5cm minimum focusing distance, it is ideal for Life-Size close-up Imaging.
Features of the hybrid lens with optical image stabilization of up to 4 steps of Shake for effective control in low light and capture and vibration Gyro Sensor acceleration and vibration of the camera during close-up shooting is compensated for both angular and shift. Focus, ultrasonic motor (USM) provides fast and silent autofocus and permanent manual focus override allows for precise manual focus in AF mode. A limiting function of the focus range offers three ranges of distance to control the range in which the AF looks to Focus, thereby reducing the focus time. Internal focusing system means that the barrel does not extend when focusing, which is crucial when shooting macro.

This lens includes a dedicated lens hood and is compatible with a Canon tripod collar
