After spending a couple of weeks with the beryl scholar, Owyn has started going his own way again. He's come up against a new region in the land: the Emerald Wild. Said to be full of all sorts of mythical and magical creatures, most of them dangerous, Owyn is determined to test himself against it.

However, as he heads into the vast forest and makes camp by a hot spring, he finds himself making a discovery of a very different nature. While soaking in the hot spring after a long day, a beautiful woman suddenly emerges from the water. Her name is Katy, she's a mermaid, and she reveals that she's always wanted to make it with a human...
