The material used to manufacture this mat may discolor/stain from acidic food products such as tomato sauce, coffee, tea, etc. I can recommend a darker color sink mat so stains will not be so apparent since nothing will prevent staining from certain substances and chemicals. In addition, you can reduce the intensity of stains by removing them immediately upon contact of the above content. Or to completely safeguard against any stains you can remove the mat completely before pouring content into the sink.
