Hermann the German's namesake confectioner Herman Werner stays true to his heritage, crafting old-fashioned Bavarian hard candies in traditional fruit and herbal flavors. Founded in 1997 as Sweet Castle in Neidenbach, Germany, the candies have since become a favorite holiday tradition in the US; Herman and his family travel yearly to Chicago's Christkindlmarket where their confections are eagerly anticipated.
