In zones 3-7, plant tulip bulbs in the fall or early winter, as long as the soil is not frozen and is still workable, in full sun to part shade. Bloom time will be in April or May. Zones 8 & up will need to refrigerate their bulbs for about 12 weeks, either prior to planting, or after planting in pots (then place the pots in the fridge).
