This is the therapeutically most potent Maitake extract on the market and one of the few that contains NO indigestible dried mushroom powder, only highly purified extract. It can deliver the therapeutic dosage as recommended in the research (5 - 7 mg fractionated proteoglycans p/kg bodyweight / per day) easily. In Maitake the therapeutic ingredients are beta-glucans and protein-linked glucans: proteoglycans. The bioavailability of these components is perfect. Non-extracted mushroom products cannot be digested by our stomach, so the therapeutic effect will be minimal. The processing used for Oriveda Grifolan® is repeated hot water extraction followed by alcohol precipitation / fractionation. That last part is responsible for the high purity which in turn is responsible for the remarkable therapeutic potential. Crude hot water extracts cannot guarantee the therapeutic effects as described in the research.

Maitake can cause swings in the blood sugar level in sensitive people. It shouldn't be used when pregnant and when taking immune-suppressive medication.
