No permanent modifications. This mount replaces the rear sight leaf on your Mauser 98 rifle. Elevation setting of mount can be locked in place with included set screws. Provides a secure mounting platform to install your choice of optics. 13 cross slots will accept any weaver/picatinny style scope rings and provides some room to adjust eye relief on your optics. Fits K98 series rifles including Yugo series like the M24/47. Note this mount will not fit any other Mauser rifles other than the K98 and Yugo series like the M24/47. Will not fit older 1891 and similar small ring Mausers. Please be aware that some K98 rifles made during the War years and also some K98 rifles that where rearsenaled may have a rear sight base with different dimensions than original Military spec.
