On this 2 disc set, Ekaterina Derzhavina performs Johann Sebastian Bachs French Suites BWV 812-817. Bach wrote the French Suites for the clavier between 1722 and 1725. Although the works were given the name French Suites, largely because of a publication released in 1802, they follow an Italian compositional convention. Ekaterina Derzhavina began study with Valeria Polouina at the Gnessin Music school at age 14. At 19, she was admitted to Gnessin Russian Academy of Music under Vladimir Tropp. She has won many awards and accolades for her performances, including the Choc award by the French newspaper Le Monde de la Musique.
