Product Review
The third hardest wood in our range with a Janka hardness rating of 3220 lbf. This is the wood of choice for many wood turners who use its black / brown striped appearance to manufacture Pool cues, knife handles, Jewelry boxes & Cabinet work. The wood is obtained from the Diospyros Celebica tree, found on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia, where it was named after their port city. These Macassar Ebony picks are manufactured from off cuts from musical instrument and furniture manufacturing. Although Macassar Ebony is very similar in hardness to African Ebony, it is a much more open grained material. This grain pattern is usually obvious on the surface of the picks and affords much more grip. If used on an Acoustic guitar it will dramatically brighten the sound. This listing is for a single pick
- THINGS TO CONSIDER: One reason people use picks made of different materials is to achieve different densities. Dense picks (heavy woods, metals, rock and bone) tend to produce a heavier sound (preferred by hard rock/metal players) while less dense picks (plastics, nylon) provide a brighter sound. This is something that is very important to consider before buying your pick. Research the material this pick is made of to find out what type of sound it will product while playing.
