Description:
This sensor replaces 5C3Z-9J460-B and 1850352C2
The EBP sensor in your powerstroke gives feedback of back pressure in the exhaust system. The computer uses this information to check and optimize turbo and EGR function. This sensor is a key part in balancing all systems in your engine for optimal fuel mileage and power.

Diagnosis:
The EBP sensor should be suspected and checked if you are experiencing poor turbo performance, fuel mileage, or have a specific EBP trouble code. The typical failure mode of the factory sensors is carbon buildup in the exhaust entry area. A scanner is needed to compare the readings of the EBP to other sensors, such as the MAP sensor, to verify operation. Look for atmospheric pressure with KOEO and varying pressures at varying throttle positions.

Trouble Codes:
P0401 - EGR Flow Insufficient Detected - Possible Biased Sensor
P0402 - EGR Flow Excessive Detected - Possible Biased Sensor
P0471 - Exhaust Pressure Sensor Range/Performance
P0472 - Exhaust Pressure Sensor Low Input
P0473 - Exhaust Pressure Sensor High Input
P0478 - Exhaust Pressure Control Valve High Input

Inspection:
Remove the sensor from the tube coming from the exhaust manifold. First check that exhaust is able to pass through the tube freely after the engine is started. The tubes can clog and cause the same result as a bad sensor. If the tube is free, inspect the threaded port for carbon buildup. This carbon can be very difficult to remove when the port is fully packed and the force needed to free it typically destroys the sensor, but is worth a try first.
