Tsouréki is a sweet yeast bread that, like many yeast breads, requires two risings. It is delicious toasted with butter. Easter Tsouréki is a braided or twisted bread, sometimes made with a red-dyed, hard-boiled egg at one end (we used non-toxic onion skins to color our eggs red). Traditionally flavored with mahlepi and mastica. Available during 4 weeks before Easter only.
