A filmic record of US military operations on the Aleutian Island of Adak to take back Japanese occupied Kiska. Though uncredited, John Huston (The Maltese Falcon) directed this documentary, which also features music by four time Oscar winner Dimitri Tiomkin (High Noon, The Old Man and the Sea). Director Huston, who also helped
narrate the film and was actually in the Army Signal Corps at the time of filming, wanted to use this documentary to show the everyday life of American soldiers. Though the US Army initially objected, Huston got his way.
