For our Thai Jasmine tea we've taken our silky, smooth Golden Lily Oolong and added fresh jasmine petals during the second drying.

To further enhance the jasmine aroma we soaked natural fiber pads in jasmine essential oils and put these pads in trays under the drying bin when we air dry the oolong.

This is not an over-powering jasmine oolong. The oolong tea is still the star of the show. The subtle jasmine scent and flavor comes through most strongly when the tea is first brewed.

Connoisseur's Notes:

Country of Origin: Thailand

Region: Chiang Rai Highlands

Harvest: Spring 2015

Production Notes: 25% - 30% Fermentation (almost green), Grown in Thailand from a Formosan cultivar. Lightly scented with jasmine using essential oils.

Tasting Notes: This is definitely NOT your average Chinese restaurant jasmine tea. The jasmine scent is subtle. Given the already floral aroma of the Jin Xuan Oolong base tea, it takes a few minutes for your tongue to sort out the flavors. But the jasmine is definitely there. Especially forward in the first brewing. It fades a bit for subsequent brewing but if you are doing multiple brews in one go the jasmine aroma seems to hover over the table. It is particularly great that it has none of that lingering jasmine in the mouth flavor so common in other jasmine scented teas. If you are a fan of jasmine teas, this one definitely deserves a place in your tea caddy.
