Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and numerous technical authorities have written textbooks, manuals and papers regarding switchgear. However, much of the information required for electrical fitters, engineers and maintenance technicians has to be extracted from different sources and gained through experience.

The aim of this guidance document is to provide technicians, students and engineers with an overall appreciation of typical maintenance practices for both switchgear and protection.
