Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ typically uses 1A. It will use 2A when running benchmarks. MicroUSB connectors are small and can only deliver around 2.5A of current. Any power supply rated higher either lacks short circuit safety protection or advertise raw supply capability and not current delivery capability.
