To measure the length, the measuring tape is extended across the longest length of the table. It is recommended that buyers add 6 to 12 inches to the length measurement to allow for additional length at each end of the table for the runner to drop over the edges. For width, table runners generally look best when they are approximately one-third of the width of the table. Runners are then centered with equal amounts of table or linens showing on each side.
