Three thousand years ago Israel was beset by problems similar to those troubling her today. The fragmented country experienced frequent wars. King David's Jerusalem was a divided city, with displaced peoples living outside her walls. Abigail worked out her faith within these harsh, often brutal circumstances. Though living within the confines of a rigid patriarchy, this courageous, wise and beautiful woman influenced history for the good. Her relationship with David and his other wives is portrayed sensitively.
