They come pre-waxed with tabs to take the work out of making your candles. Simply pour the melted wax into the cup and wait for the wax to cool to the point just before the wax skims over. Then insert the wick and be sure it is centered. If you insert the wick too soon, the hot wax might melt the pre-waxed coating on the wick resulting in a "slumping" wick.
