Cymbidium Koushu Moon 'Yohiki' is an easy to grow orchid that produces large sprays of intense yellow flowers with a spotted red lip, derived from top-shelf orchid breeding in Japan. Japan is a country obsessed with orchids, and their breeding lines are among the best in the world. (Think Arabian stallions and racehorses, and you'll get the idea!) Cymbidiums are known for their showy, colorful, long-lasting flowers, making them one of the most attractive and sought after orchids. They're not fussy, and you can grow them outside (in their own pots) if you live in an area that doesn't freeze for prolonged periods. They also tolerate water that has higher mineral content, unlike many orchids that do best with very pure water such as reverse osmosis or distilled water. These seedlings are about 1.5 to 2 years from blooming size; the 2-growth plant has a mature bulb and new shoot emerging. As the plant adds more bulbs, it will be able to produce multiple flower spikes each with 10+ flowers! With their long leaves and showy flowers, these orchids look great in a yard or landscape arrangment. You can fertilize lightly every other watering, with increased fertilization in the spring/summer main growing season.
