The likes of Yamaha and Casio produce a wide range of accessory pedals for their keyboards but often design them so that they only work with their brand. A Yamaha sustain pedal will only work with a Yamaha keyboard, a Casio sustain pedal will only work with a Casio keyboard. This can present problems, especially in schools and colleges as very often a department will have a mixture of keyboard products in use. The SP-1 piano style sustain pedal has a switch on the side of the unit which reverses the polarity and it can consequently be used with any brand. The unit itself is solid and hard wearing, the stainless steel pedal, chrome finished sustain pedal is nicely sprung and feels very piano-like under foot. It has a 6.35 mm jack connection, which is the standard size used by all manufacturers.
