Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips in cards enable speedy and contactless data transfer or capture, but they also make those cards vulnerable to identity theft. As increasing numbers of credit cards, licenses, i.d. and transit cards, and passports resort to RFID technology, the data they carry can be electronically snatched away through the material or fabric of the wallet or purse enclosing them.

The interior of RFID sleeves has shielding to render the sleeve-contents opaque to electromagnetic scanners and readers. The exterior is made of Tyvek, which keeps them lightweight, thin, and highly durable.

The dimensions are standard so as to accommodate the majority of credit cards and passports.
