Twist off counter clockwise and lift the top cover. Remove the semi-transparent plastic tube from around the battery holder. Insert 4 x AA batteries. Replace the semi-transparent tube over the batteries. Replace the top cover twisting clockwise until it clicks. Press the button on top of the pepper mill to activate the grinder, releasing the button will deactivate the grinder. Under the bottom of the pepper mill is a screw. The screw can be turned to adjust how finely the spice is ground. It is recommended to keep the pepper mill 80% full at all times to ensure it functions smoothly.
