You can have a year long carpet of think evergreen periwinkle groundcover.
In may they give you a wide of profusion of beautiful lavender-blue flowers. It grows so vigorously you can put periwinkle so poor stony soil on steep banks and rock gardens.
Does better in shade than grass but likes the sun too. Plant 6-12" apart for a lush carpet. Grows 4-5" tall without special care.
Vinca Minor are perfect for shady areas beneath shrubs and other places even where grass will not grow.
