Ruth Strubhar is devastated after her boyfriend leaves her in order to marry someone else. She withdraws from the world and half wishes that she were dead. Her family arrange for her to move in with her kindly aunt Miriam for a while, believing a change of community will do her good.

However, things start off badly until she meets handsome Isaiah, who is doing some work on Miriam’s house. Isaiah helps her out of her depression, teaching her things that she would have never learnt back home.

However, when her old boyfriend starts writing to Ruth, it opens up wounds and feelings from the past. Which way would Ruth turn?
