• The GU24 socket and base system was designed to replace the Edison socket and base in energy efficient lighting fixtures.
• The ENERGY STAR Program Requirements for Residential Lighting Fixtures, Version 4.0 require that residential lighting fixtures cannot use the standard Edison screw base. This mandate occurred during the CFL era of efficiency lighting. Despite the mandate and many fixtures sold with this base the selection of these bulbs remains small as energy efficiency is now focused on LED Bulbs. These adapters bridge that gap and allow you to use the more common GU10 LED based bulb with GU24 systems.
• Most GU24 fixtures don't have included ballasts, but a few do and it is not recommended to use adapters with an integrated ballast GU24 system.
