Penny Clark’s new business venture to recover missing pets is up and running when the body of Kevin Throop is discovered at the family apple orchard, but that was before they also learn that Winston, a prized poodle, has been dognapped. 


Penny is ready to investigate, going against the strict orders of Sheriff Nathan Bradley, who was once her high school sweetheart.
With Penny’s partner, Holly, at the helm of the Pet Recovery Center bus, and her divorced grandparents along for the ride, they tackle their first case — to find the missing poodle. If only Penny didn’t have to referee her grandparents after she took in her grandfather when he was forced to leave the rustic cabin he’s been living in, since it’s located on state land.
