Horsehair braid is a kind of crinoline netting that can be used as a decorative trim, or an internal stiffener. Its unusual properties -- it can stretch and shrink to become narrower or wider -- make it popular in theater and dance costumes, for millinery and hair accessories, and for historical re-enactors. Use horsehair braid to stiffen hems, puff out puff sleeves, make belts, bows, and headpieces. In our horsehair braid, there's a gathering thread on one side, which can be pulled to shrink the braid, creating more shape possibilities. Once upon a time it was made of horse hair, but is now made of 100% Polyester. There are two weights of horsehair braid: hard and soft. Hard horsehair like in this listing holds a little more strongly, and soft horsehair is a little gentler.
