The 1958 full-size Chevy was the first year of the now famous Impala line. This model nameplate has been used almost continuously since then. The new ‘58 Impala was longer, lower and wider than its predecessor. It had an all new frame design and a more powerful 348 cu. in. engine. This all helped move Chevy back up into first place in sales.
