After the death of her parents in a road accident, the young and beautiful Lilly Heart is left at the mercy of her cousin. Her father’s property is going to her cousin, as the next living male in the family and Lilly is left with the little dowry, her parents managed to spare before they were taken from her.

The intelligent and headstrong woman is determined to fight for her happiness and refuses to marry either of the two men, her cousin had chosen for her. To punish Lilly for her disobedience, Gerald Heart sends her to work as a governess in the house of the mysterious Mr. Paul Redington.

Lilly knows very little about the man, except for the rumors that he is a very cold and reserved person, who had been unable to love his late wife and with that was responsible for her death. When the young woman arrives at his house, she is surprised to find Mr. Redington in the nursery, playing with his two years old daughter.

Slowly, she learns the truth about him and starts to understand and love him for his strength and righteousness. But, is love enough to overpower social status, financial dificulties and family prejudices?
