Norwegian saxophonist Trygve Seim sets the mystical poetry of Jalaluddin Rumi (1207-1273), one of the wisest thinkers of the ages, using the inspired contemporary English-language versions of Coleman Barks as his source texts.

Trygve responds both to the musicality of Barkss translations and to Rumis gifts as a storyteller and with Rumi Songs seems to have invented a new kind of Lieder with a Nordic-Oriental orientation.

Tora Augestad is a highly experienced classical mezzo-soprano, who has recently been performing Schoenbergs Pierrot Lunaire with members of the Oslo Philharmonic. She finds a more intimate tone to convey Rumis thoughts, which are underlined by the elegant arrangements for sax, accordion and cello.
