To some people, getting laid off of work multiple times is just a vague representation of what life really is. But for Shelton, this is a reality. After being laid off of work multiple times, Shelton decides to take the path that all his friends took and moves to Fort McMurray for work. His life comes crashing down when a forest fire causes everything around him to be gone, and he is left in what he believes to be an endless dark void. But this void is lightened, and he makes better of this dark situation in his life. He has sudden realizations that life isn't all its cracked up to be, and that there are people around the world who have issues with their lives too.
