We are extremely happy with this solar powered lantern! First of all, it is way better looking in person than in the Amazon pictures. Secondly, this entire unit is very well made. It isn't a plastic stand, the rod and hook is actually a thick metal, so you don't need to worry about it bending or getting pushed over by the wind. Also, the rod gets placed into a stake, which is about 6 inches long. Once we put the stake in the ground, I had no problem keeping the lantern up. We left the lantern in the sunlight for a minimum of seven hours like the instructions said, then by that night, we got solid light for at least 6 hours (the last time I looked at it was around 1am, but then I fell asleep) so I know that thing must product light for a while because it was still shining bright when I saw it last. I was also happy with the amount of light that this puts out. This lantern isn't like those cheap little pathway solar lights that barely do anything at all. It puts out a good amount of light, but not so much that you have a weird, LED glow coming from it. The light it emits is pleasant and easy to deal with.
