S/M fits fitted hat sizes 6 3/4 - 7 1/4 (head circumference 21 1/4 - 22 3/4), L/XL fits fitted hat sizes 7 1/8 - 7 5/8 (head circumference 22 1/2 - 24) so it's best to order the size that best matches you.
