This dietary supplement is intended for use as part of a nutritional program to help manage weight and support a healthy blood lipid profile. This product contains FBCx®, a naturally occurring, dietary fiber for weight management and metabolic maintenance that allows patients to limit their caloric intake from ingested fats. Decades of preclinical and clinical research have established its supportive effects on body weight as well as fat and glucose (blood sugar) metabolism. When taken with meals or snacks three times per day, this product can help manage weight by preventing the absorption of up to 486 calories a day (about 54 grams of dietary fat). By inhibiting dietary fat absorption, this product can support healthy levels of triglycerides and cholesterol. It also has beneficial effects on glucose tolerance and cellular sensitivity to insulin. The FBCx®-fat inclusion complex (made up of dietary fat sequestered with FBCx®) cannot be broken down by human digestive enzymes, so it passes unabsorbed through the small intestine. It is then metabolized in the colon. This product differs from lipase inhibitors as it does not inhibit or reduce the activity of lipase, the digestive enzyme that helps break down fat. Unlike lipase inhibitors that cause large amounts of free, uncomplexed dietary fats to pass through the digestive system, this product does not lead to excessive fat in the stool (steatorrhea) or adverse side effects at recommended doses.
