Boswellia Serrata, otherwise known as the Indian frankincense, is a tree native to India and North Africa. It's famous for its anti-inflammatory properties as well as its ability to support optimal functioning of the joints and connective tissues while also relieving pain in arthritic conditions. Boswellia is believed to enhance blood supply to the joints and support healthy liver functioning. The primary active ingredient is boswellic acid, which is used in many herbal preparations. Clinical studies have shown that boswellic acid exerts anti-inflammatory actions similar to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS). It is traditionally used in Ayurveda as an anti-arthritic remedy and as an analgesic.
