This acount by Gilbert the Bard was overlooked as a fairy tale due to the savior of the princess being Claude Dragonhand who was supposedly part dragon himself. However, after a modern dermatologist reviewed the Materia Medica of Cidolfas the Apothecary, it was determined that he may have had atavistic hyperkeratosis and was not as unreal as previously believed.
