Grammy-nominated American trumpeter Dave Douglas and award-winning French pianist Frank Woeste join forces on a new project inspired by the life and work of Man Ray and his colleagues in the Dada and Surrealist movements of the 20th century.

The resulting collaboration, Dada People, features ten unique compositions that reflect Man Ray's artistic sensibilities. Recorded in New York by a quartet that includes bassist Matt Brewer (Steve Coleman, Gonzalo Rubalcaba) and drummer Clarence Penn (Michael Brecker, Maria Schneider) this music explores the intersection of the avant-garde with the popular arts that fueled Ray's work. Featuring an expansive palette that includes Woeste on piano and Fender Rhodes, the set is a beautiful combination of French lyricism and improvisational rambunctiousness.
