Jenny dreams of marriage and a family of her own. She finds work as a teacher in a small Texas town and suffers a bit of culture shock as she's from upstate New York. She's having trouble disciplining one of the students and the child's single father comes in to apologize. He is a handsome cowboy, struggling to save his ranch and family but a romance ensues between the two nonetheless.
